What a difference a day made! 91ֿ pride was in full force April 24, as 91ֿhosted the annual Western Challenge on Purple and Gold Day. The event spanned 24 hours and raised $423,911 with 1,012 donors. The 1,000th donor unlocked a $1,000 scholarship gift from 91ֿPresident Kristi Mindrup. The 2026 gifts surpassed the 2025 challenge and donors.
The Performing Arts Society (PAS) at 91ֿ announces that applications are now open for three grant opportunities for the 2026–27 academic year. The 91ֿArts Grants, Community Arts Grants and K–12 School Arts Grants are made possible through the generosity of PAS individual memberships, corporate sponsorships and fundraising events.

Members of the 91ֿ student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) are preparing for their annual trip to Washington, D.C. for the Special Education Leadership Summit (SELS). The 2026 SELS will take place July 19-22. This is the third consecutive year 91ֿstudents have attended.
The 91ֿ campuses, including the 91ֿFoundation, will close at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, and reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

The 2025 ornament is available now and features the facade of WIU’s newest construction project, the Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts. Now is the perfect time to own a piece of 91ֿhistory, with the Goldfarb Center slated to open in 2026.

The 2025 91ֿ Foundation donor banquet, held on Friday, Sept. 12, featured an exciting announcement about a transformational investment from a retired 91ֿprofessor and his wife. Jim and Judy Niss, of Winter Park, FL have arranged to endow two scholarship funds via a $3 million estate gift.
In 1971, a 91ֿFootball legacy began in Macomb that has lasted more than half a century. That was the year Coach Brodie Westen, along with his wife, Jane, moved from Champaign, IL, to begin his Leatherneck coaching career.

As part of a strategic realignment, Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences Amy Crosby has been named Interim Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations and Interim Executive Officer of the 91ֿFoundation, effective immediately. Crosby has served in her current role for seven years. Previously, the Division of Advancement, Alumni Relations and Athletics was led by Vice President Clare Thompson. Athletics will move to the Division of Student Success. Crosby will report directly to the President.
